Three public meetings were recently held in Lexington and Nicholasville, KY regarding the newly adopted Lexington Area MPO Participation Plan and the 2007 Draft Congestion Management Report.  The first meeting was held at the Beaumont Library off of Harrodsburg Road on the Southside of Lexington.

Some of the comments at Beaumont were: the Harrodsburg Road side road to Corporate Drive is being used to avoid traffic in the morning; need more red light running enforcement, Beaumont Circle needs more access;  Harrodsburg Road backs up at Picadome Elementary School where Clays Mill intersects; New Circle Road needs to be widened; better signal timing is needed in Jessamine County.

The second meeting was held at the Northside Library on Russell Cave Road on the Northside of Lexington.

Some of the comments at Northside were: need a left turn arrow on Main St. at South Broadway; improve signal timing on Broadway, Harrodsburg Road and Sir Barton Way; Lextran bus routes need to be expanded to where people live; signal timing in general needs improvement; uses Lextran all the time and loves it; South Broadway is too congested in the afternoon; widen New Circle Road to six lanes; entrance ramps to New Circle Road need to be longer.

The third meeting was held at the Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce office on Main Street in Nicholasville.

Some of the comments in Nicholasville were: want an update on the status of the Eastern Bypass; widen Brannon Road as well as make other improvements because it has the potential to become the next outer beltway for Lexington; safety improvements needed on KY 169 and US 68; interested in how often public meetings are held; the North 27 bypass backs up to Catnip Hill Road.
